Classification
All registered employers are classified by the type of business they operate. We use Statistics Canada’s Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes for this purpose. Using SIC codes as a standard ensures businesses operating in similar industries pay similar assessment rates.
We use these SIC codes to form our industry and rate groups. These groups are monitored and adjusted, as necessary, on an annual basis.
