If your business is based outside of Nova Scotia, and you are doing business in the province, you will need to apply for coverage if you:
Work in a mandatory industry
Have 3 or more workers in the province for 5 days or more in a calendar year
Trucking Alternative Assessment Procedure (AAP): The AAP is an optional program for businesses in the trucking and charter bus industries who travel outside of Nova Scotia.
Employees working outside of Nova Scotia
If an employee is working outside of Nova Scotia, the employer must confirm with the workers’ compensation board equivalent in the area where the employee will be working whether coverage in required with that organization. If you are not required to have coverage from the workers’ compensation board equivalent outside Nova Scotia, upon request, we may extend coverage to your workers doing business outside Nova Scotia.
