Permanently Cancelling Coverage
You can cancel coverage permanently for the following reasons:
The business is closing or being sold
Your workforce has dropped below 3 and will stay that way for 12 months
You have Voluntary Coverage
You will still need to report all assessable payroll and pay any assessment due up until the date of closing, including penalties and interest. Also, you must inform any remaining workers they are no longer covered.
Temporarily Discontinuing Coverage
You can discontinue your coverage temporarily if you are
Seasonal
Cease operating for a period of time (less than 12 months)
If you don’t have any assessable payroll to report, you will still need to make your remittances by their scheduled dates. If you do not do this, you will incur penalties.
You can use MyAccount to discontinue your business with us.
Please note:
If business does not restart by the expected date, you must still complete and return your remittance voucher for the period by the due date.
If you know you will not resume operations by the expected date, you must contact us to extend the discontinuation period.
If business restarts before the expected date, you must start making remittances on your usual reporting cycle immediately after start up.
